Hillary Kozma is an author of literary nonfiction exploring faith, wonder, divine signs, and the heart’s journey to Allah.
Raised in the wheat country of Eastern Oregon, among golden fields, rodeo towns, cowboys, ranching families, and the wide-open spaces of the American West, Hillary grew up attending the Lutheran Christian church, a Trinitarian church, and later came to Islam after a clear, unexpected thought came to her: read the Quran. Her writing often speaks to seekers, reverts, born Muslims, and spiritually curious readers drawn to beauty, mystery, meaning, and the hidden signs woven through creation.
Originally from the United States, Hillary has lived abroad since 2003, with years spent across the Middle East and Europe, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Portugal, and Spain. She now lives in the mountains of Lebanon with her husband, Mohamad, known as Mike, their two dogs, Charlie and Pickle, and her Andalusian horse, Napoleon.
When she is not writing, she can often be found reading in the garden, drinking coffee, cooking, sharing, and enjoying Lebanese food, walking in nature, or spending time with her horse.

I write literary nonfiction exploring faith, wonder, divine signs, the search for meaning, and the heart’s journey to Allah. My work often reflects on creation, spiritual awakening, the Quran, and the hidden mercy that can appear in both beauty and hardship.
No. My books are written for Muslims, reverts, seekers, and spiritually curious readers. Whether you are rooted in Islam, returning to faith, asking questions from the edge, or simply curious about the Creator and the Quran, you are welcome here.
My journey began unexpectedly, with a clear inner thought that came to me: read the Quran. That moment opened a path of reading, reflection, wonder, and discovery that changed my life.
My writing style is lyrical, reflective, atmospheric, and wonder-soaked. I write literary nonfiction, but nonfiction does not mean stripped of imagination. I am drawn to mystery, beauty, paradox, metaphor, and the enchantment of creation, especially the hidden signs that awaken the heart, unsettle the ordinary, and point it back to Allah.
Begin with Awake, the first book in the collection. It opens the journey through faith, wonder, divine signs, and the awakening of the heart. The journey continues with The Final Awakening and concludes with A House Near You.
